About the Animals

An Animal Sactuary , Campsites & more...!

Eventide Sanctuary offers a compassionate haven for over a hundred rescue animals.

Led by our founder Ian, an ex-army veteran, we ensure each animal thrives in our nurturing environment, with care tailored to their specific needs. We encourage community members to contact us before bringing an animal, facilitating smooth integration.

Visitors can engage with our animals, join educational farm tours, and participate in sanctuary activities. These experiences deepen appreciation for wildlife and conservation, inspiring visitors to value the beauty and dignity of sanctuary life.

  • What sorts of animals can I see?

The animals at the sanctuary currently include highland cows, cows, chickens, ducks, goats, alpacas, and ducks - and a variety of animals native to the property such as Tasmanian Devils and Wombats and there is even a conservation area where you can see the endangered Swift Parrots!

  • Are the animals safe for children?

Yes, Ian works hard to ensure all the animals behave and a natural balance is kept in harmony. However, these are wild animals and we ask that you follow instructions and respect the animals at all times.

  • Can I help feed the animals?

Yes there are opportunities for you to help Ian and Wally with farm chores, caring for new animals or feeding.

  • The animals are "free range" - what does that mean?

Yes, the animals at Eventide Sanctuary are free range, meaning they are allowed to roam freely within the confines of the sanctuary. This approach provides a more natural and healthy environment, allowing the animals to exhibit their natural behaviors and interact more freely with their environment and each other.

  • What is an animal sanctuary?

An animal sanctuary is a dedicated facility where animals are brought to live and be protected for the rest of their lives. These sanctuaries are usually established to provide care for animals that have been neglected, abandoned, or otherwise displaced. They offer a safe haven where these animals can live in a secure, nurturing environment. Sanctuaries differ from shelters in that they typically do not seek to rehome animals but rather provide them permanent residence with appropriate care, including medical attention, adequate space, and a suitable habitat that allows them to express their natural behaviors. The main focus is on the well-being and conservation of the animals, ensuring they receive the highest quality of life possible.

  • I have an animal that needs help - what do I do?

We kindly ask that you get in touch with us to discuss options before bringing any animals to the sanctuary. We are committed to doing our best to assist the animal directly or through our network. For the well-being of all our animals, please do not drop off any animals at the property without prior communication with our team. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
